RAIDERS RUN WILD ON CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC

CANFIELD, OH- Last week, South Range was stymied in their efforts to move the football on the ground- but still walked away with a convincing victory over University School.  This week, the Burgandy and Gold turned it up and were able to run for 313 yards on the ground in a 42-13 victory over Canton Central Catholic.

The Raiders offense was sizzling, as they scored on every time they touched the ball in the first half.  Dylan Dominguez started the attack with a 48-yard touchdown just minutes into the contest.  Then, on the next CCC drive, the Raider defense held strong to force a punt that was returned to paydirt by Shane Lindstrom from 61 yards out.  On the following drive, Billy Skripac tossed a beautiful ball overtop the defense and into the waiting hands of Connor Jones to make things 21-0.  Only to have Cory Penick get involved on the following series with a 51-yard scamper into the paint.

28-0.

Before you could blink, seemingly, South Range was out in front by four scores and were forcing lookers-on to turn on YSN’s Audible Call at the stadium for evening entertainment from the stands.

The Crusaders would put together their first scoring drive in the second quarter when Jack Talkington used his size to slip past defenders, going into the endzone from 20 yards out, making it 28-6.  Although, in typical Raider fashion this season, Dylan Dominguez wasted no time- going 85 yards to the house on the very next series to make it 35-6.

Each team would add another score in the second half, including another beautiful Skripac to Jones play-action connection from 18 yards out to make it 42-13.

South Range racked up 387 total yards on the night, averaging 10.7 yards per play.  Skripac was a perfect 4-for-4 on the night with 2 touchdowns through the air.  Dylan Dominguez had 9 carries for 184 yards and a pair of scores, while Cory Penick had 76 yards on 6 carries and a score as well.  Connor Jones was a weapon out of the backfield as well, leading the team in receptions with 3-two of which went for touchdowns.

South Range (3-0) will now turn their attention to the conference schedule in the NE8, and the first opponent is Struthers next Friday night.  You’ll be able to watch that matchup next week on YSNLive.com.
