RAIDERS SHINE THROUGH THE CLOUDS ON OPENING DAY

Austintown-Fitch  lost the lead late in a 9-4 defeat to South Range on Saturday. The game was tied at two with South Range batting in the top of the fifth when Gavin Nagy homered on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs.

In the top of the fourth inning, South Range tied things up at two when Blake Jeffries doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

South Range scored three runs in the seventh inning. Jeffries and Joey Aey powered the scoring with RBIs.

Konnor Brogan was the winning pitcher for South Range. Brogan surrendered two runs on three hits over four innings, striking out three. Aey threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jack Knight led things off on the hill for the Falcons. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Carter Owens, Nik Kyprianou, and Steve Palmer each contributed in relief for Fitch.

The Falcons racked up seven hits on the day. Jackson Cheeks and Rocco DiFlorio each racked up multiple hits. DiFlorio and Cheeks each managed two hits to lead the offense.

South Range saw the ball well, racking up eight hits in the game. Jeffries, Tyson Tarajack, and Nagy all managed multiple hits.
