CANFIELD OH- South Range defeated East Palestine 24-0 in the sectional finals on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Tyson Tarajack struck out Hunter Bourne to finish off the game.
South Range got things moving in the first inning. The Raiders scored three runs when Jake Shumate doubled.
The Raiders tallied ten runs in the second inning. Their offense in the inning was led by Billy Skripac, Wardle, Logan Baxter, Shumate, Gaven Nagy, and Shane Lindstrom, all driving in runs in the inning.
One bright spot for East Palestine was a single by Kyler Bourne in the first inning.
Skripac earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for South Range. Skripac allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking zero. Tarajack threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Phoenix Marvin took the loss for East Palestine. The righty lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 hits and 11 runs while striking out one and walking one.
Blake Noel started the game for the Bulldogs. The pitcher allowed seven hits and 13 runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two
South Range tallied 21 hits. Tarajack, Lindstrom, Nagy, Nick Plunkett, Andrew Brian, and Shumate all managed multiple hits. Tarajack led with four hits in five at bats.
Bourne went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead East Palestine in hits.
