RAIN DANCE CAN’T STOP NILES OFFENSE, TRIBE FALLS

NILES, OH- Pure and simple: Niles came to play.  The Girard Indians couldn’t keep up with Niles and fell 8-1 on Monday.   Through the raindrops, Niles McKinley scored four runs in the fourth inning. McKinley scored its runs on a single by Zack Leonard.

Dylan Weida was the winning pitcher for Niles. He allowed two hits and one run over six innings, striking out nine.

Brady Hunkus took the loss for Girard. He surrendered six runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out six and walking one.

Austin Claussell and Anthony Cortese each managed one hit to lead the Indians.

The Red Dragons collected 11 hits. Leonard, Chase Sudzina, Kenny Flanigan, and Corban Foy each managed multiple hits for McKinley. Leonard went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead McKinley in hits. McKinley was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Nick Guarnieri had the most chances in the field with ten.
