REBELS HANG ON TO EARLY LEAD

COLUMBIANA OH- the temperature gradually climbed on Saturday afternoon as Crestview and Springfield met in a non conference battle. The Rebels scored 2 in the first, and that was all they needed in the 2-1 win over the Tigers.

The Rebels got their runs on one swing. After Kaedyn Sutton reached on an error in the outfield Karsyn Moore bashed a two run home runs to make the Tigers pay.

The Tigers scored their run as Abby Joseph reached on an error, and on that error Carlee Bacon turn to head home but tripped over the third baseman. Obstruction was called and Bacon was granted the score.

Outside of that both pitchers did a phenomenal job keeping the opposing offenses kept down.

Things got dramatic in the top of the 7th when Springfield put a runner on third with 2 outs. Maddi Lesnak came to the plate and Sutton got her looking to end the game.

Sutton was awarded the Baird Brothers player of the game for her work in the circle. Her final line was 7.0 IP 3 H 0 ER 4 BB 9 K.

Lesnak pitched well in the loss for the Tigers. Her final line was 6.0 IP 2 H 2 ER 2 BB 4 K.

Moore went 1-2 with a walk, a home run, 2 RBI and a run scored. Sutton went 1-3 on the day.

Bacon went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored for the Tigers. She was the only hitter with multiple hits.
