RED DRAGONS TOAST JEFFERSON

NILES, OH- It didn’t take Niles Quarterback, Zack Leonard long to show that he’s a contender for one of the Valley’s best at the position.  He and his Red Dragon teammates racked up 260 total yards of offense in a 35-3 flex on their NE8 rival, Jefferson.

The irony, though; they did it in just three-quarters of play.

Lightning delays at 7:49 remaining in the third quarter, and again before the first tick fell of the clock in the fourth quarter presented an ultimatum for school officials as they battled through the raindrops to collectively finalize the game with a full quarter left to play.

When you look at the night Leonard had, he certainly passes the eye-test in Week 1.  The Niles signal-caller was 10-15 with 195 yards passing and had 4 touchdowns on the night.  Leonard also ran the rock 13 times for 47 yards.  Alleni Fryer had 5 grabs for 132 yards receiving.

For the Falcons, Daniel Bruckman led the way on the ground with 20 attempts that racked up 77 yards.  Grant Hitchcock went 10-20 with 2 interceptions while passing for 81 yards on the night.

Niles will now take their show on the road to Poland to take on the Bulldogs, while Jefferson will match up against Hubbard in Week 2.
