RESERVE TAKES TITLE IN BATTLE OF BLUE DEVILS

MCDONALD, OH- Western Reserve scored seven runs in the fourth on its way to a 13-2 victory over McDonald on Tuesday.

Reserve fired up the offense in the first inning, when Seth Phillips homered on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.  Then they added seven runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Alex Mayorga and Jake Pappagallo, by Nick Cavoulas, and an error on a ball put in play by CJ Berlinbates.

Nick Niemi got the win for Western Reserve. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out four and walking zero. Cavoulas threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cavoulas recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Reserve .

Zach Shobel took the loss for McDonald. Shobel surrendered nine runs on ten hits over three and a third innings, striking out one and walking one.

Western Reserve Blue Devils totaled an eye-popping 17 hits. CavoulasGabe PlattJacob BuchmannPhillipsBrock Miller, and Pappagallo all had multiple hits for Western ReserveCavoulas led Western Reserve Blue Devils with three hits in five at-bats.

McDonald collected eight hits on the day. Nolan Agler and Avery Maley each racked up multiple hits for McDonald.
