RESERVE WRANGLES UP RAMS

Mineral Ridge fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-4 loss to Western Reserve on Monday. Western Reserve scored on a passed ball during Jake Buchmann’s at bat in the first inning, a double by Nick Nemi in the second inning, and a single by Seth Phillips in the second inning.

Mineral Ridge evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning when Tyler Tamburro singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Western Reserve pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Nemi doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Phillips singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Jake Papagallo took the win for Western Reserve. The ace allowed two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out four. Nemi and Alex Mayorga entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Mark Bunch took the loss for Mineral Ridge. The lefty allowed six hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out eight.

Tamburro went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Mineral Ridge in hits.

Western Reserve scattered nine hits in the game. Buchmann, Gabe Platt, and Phillips all collected multiple hits. Buchmann led with three hits in four at bats.
