RIDGE KEEPS UP THEIR TOP SPOT IN THE MVAC
ATWATER OH- Savannah Turek was locked in at the plate on Wednesday, going 3-for-4 to help Mineral Ridge cruise past Waterloo, 8-1.
The Rams didn’t waste time jumping out front—Kelcee Dye brought in a run with a sac fly and Turek followed with a base knock to center to make it 2-0 in the first. They kept adding on from there.
In the second, Sullivan Sandy dropped down a textbook bunt to score one, and Laney Rigley punched a single up the middle to tack on another. Waterloo tried to stay in it, but a couple miscues in the third opened the door for Ridge to add three more, and Sydney Wyllie knocked in one with an infield single.
Lily Merolillo got the start and kept Waterloo quiet for five strong innings, giving up just one run on five hits with six strikeouts and no free passes. Turek took over for the final two frames, tossing scoreless relief and striking out a pair.
Ridge racked up 10 hits on the day and stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping five bags—including two from Sandy. They turned a double play in the field and played clean behind their pitchers with zero errors.
Waterloo got a couple knocks and pushed across one run, but couldn’t string enough together to hang with the Rams’ consistent offense. Next up, Mineral Ridge hosts the reigning state runner ups South Range on Thursday.
