ROCK SOLID NAWROCKI

By Ty Bartell

BOARDMAN OH- As high school baseball returns in full swing, The Boardman Spartans will be led by a two-way talent in Mason Nawrocki! Playing both third base and getting time on the mound, Nawrocki has found a way to be effective in every facet of the game.

Starting the sport at an early age, Nawrocki remembers his early days of playing T-ball; however, one memory sticks out for Nawrocki and all his teammates “You know, I had a walk-off Grand Slam at the District Championship. That was pretty cool.” Nawrocki said.

Being a multiple sport athlete, Nawrocki has had the opportunity to be a leader on other athletic teams prior to this baseball season. But this season is still unique, as it brings a sort of finale to his high school sports career. “Yeah, just because it’s the final one ever, you know. Because, you know, after football, after basketball, you knew you had one more or two more, I guess. But, you know, this is the last one ever. So it hits a little more.” Nawrocki said. However, when it comes to leadership, the sports seasons prior to baseball have helped shape Mason , “Well, playing two sports before this as a senior, you know, kind of helped me out, you know, football and basketball. So I think that people can approach me if they need help. You know, I think I’m kind of a leader by action and could be a vocal leader, too.” Nawrocki said.

As Nawrocki looks to help lead a hungry group of Spartans this year, He and all his senior teammates are looking to bring the conference crown back to Boardman! The Spartans will play their first home game of the season against fellow All American Conference (AAC) rival, The Warren Harding Raiders on Tuesday, April 1st with a 5 p.m. first pitch. Catch Mason and all his teammates on the diamond this season on YSN.
