ROCKETS FREEZE OUT FAIRPORT
FAIRPORT OH- Emily Perline was dealing Tuesday as Maplewood steamrolled Fairport 16-2 in a five-inning beatdown on the road.
Perline struck out 10 and gave up just three hits across five innings of work. She walked four but never let things get out of hand, locking in when it counted.
The Rockets wasted no time putting runs on the board. In the top of the first, Ava Calvert knocked in a run with a single, Addison Marker brought one home with a sac fly, and Raegan Krieg smashed a triple to deep center to make it 3-0 early.
Then came the second inning—and Maplewood exploded for eight runs on six hits. Claire Urchek ripped a two-run double, Calvert added another RBI single, and the Kriegs kept the line moving with a mix of hits and sac fly hustle. Samantha Krieg capped it off with a two-RBI single to break it wide open.
By the third, Maplewood kept pouring it on with a couple of RBI groundouts to stretch the lead even further.
The offense was red hot all day, racking up 14 hits. Multiple players had multi-hit games, including Calvert, Urchek, and all three Kriegs. Calvert, Urchek, and Krieg each drove in a pair. Marker drew two walks, and the team showed patience at the plate, working five free passes.
Maplewood was clean in the field too—no errors, sharp glove work, and Urchek led the way defensively with six chances.
Fairport managed a few hits and got two RBIs from their eight-hole hitter, but it wasn’t nearly enough to slow the Rockets’ roll. Maplewood heads into their next matchup with momentum as they get set to face Pymatuning Valley on Thursday.
