ROTH THUMPS EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS, OH- Roth defeated Eaglewear 18-0 on Saturday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Luke Gehring struck out Evan Gilson to finish off the game.  CJ Frasco collected four hits in four at-bats to help lead Roth  to victory. Frasco singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.

Roth Thunder got things moving in the first inning, when Frasco singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Roth Thunder scored eight runs in the third inning. Roth’s offense in the inning came from singles by Frasco and John Cambert, a walk by Gabe Saunders, by Ben Wilcox, and an error on a ball put in play by Dylan Casey.

One bright spot for Eaglewear was a single by Evan Gilson in the second inning.

Andrew Kali pitched Roth to victory. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out six and walking one. Luke Gehring and Dustin Smith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Gilson led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Youngstown Class B Eaglewear 14U. He went two innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out five. Tony FalskJacob Lample, and JD Memo each contributed in relief for Eagle Wear.

Overall, Roth Brothers racked up 12 hits on the day. FrascoCambert, and Tyler Wardle all had multiple hits for Roth Thunder 14UFrasco led Roth Thunder 14U with four hits in four at-bats. Roth was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Brendan Ray had the most chances in the field with six.

Gilson went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Eagle Wear in hits.
