ROTUNNO RUNS THE SHOW

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Cardinal Mooney volleyball is putting up very balanced offensive stats this season. The ball is being spread out to multiple attackers, which makes them hard to defend. That balance comes from the fantastic setting of Angelina Rotunno.

Rotunno runs the setting duty for the Cardinals in their 5-1 offense. It means she’s in constant control of the setting, and always running the offense. It’s certainly a lot to be on someone’s shoulders. Rotunno doesn’t let any pressure phase her however, she goes out every day and simply does her job. Not only with her physical ability, but her leadership skills as well. Mooney had a stretch of games this year where they were down several key starters. It was during this stretch that the volleyball community really saw what Rotunno’s leadership meant to the team. She brought multiple young players along who were getting their first varsity experience.

Rotunno reached a career milestone earlier this season. In a game at Springfield, she reached her 1000th career assist. A milestone that she says she didn’t even know she had reached. It is an outstanding accomplishment for one of the premiere players in the area.

Angelina took the time to join YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her season. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about reaching 1000 assists, her leadership, and much more. Check out this exclusive interview with a new member of the 1000 assist club.
