RADINSKY STEPPING INTO SETTING LIKE A MASTER

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Every volleyball player knows just how crucial the setter is to a team’s success. When Cardinal Mooney’s Kaelyn Radinsky stepped into that role for the first time at the varsity level, it could’ve been a nerve-wracking experience for most, but not for her. Radinsky embraced the challenge with confidence, proving she’s got what it takes to lead the offense from the start.

Mooney head coach Toni Chahine never doubted her for a second. Chahine’s confidence in Radinsky was apparent from day one, and sometimes, all a player needs to reach their potential is a coach who believes in them. That belief has fueled Kaelyn, allowing her to grow into her role with poise beyond her years.

One of Radinsky’s strongest assets is her decision-making. Even as a young setter, she rarely sets the wrong hitter, making the smart play nearly every time. For someone her age, that kind of tactical awareness is rare. What’s even more impressive is how unpredictable she makes herself to blockers—keeping them guessing and opening up opportunities for her hitters.

Kaelyn’s connection with her hitters has come naturally. The Cardinals have a wealth of experience up front, which helps her develop a strong bond with them. This chemistry is key in making the offense run smoothly, and it’s clear Radinsky has earned the trust of her teammates.

Statistically, Radinsky is already making a major impact. So far, she’s totaled 379 assists, averaging 8.1 per set. On defense, she’s holding her own with 111 digs, ranking fourth on the team. But where she really shines is at the service line—leading the team with 34 aces, 12 more than anyone else.

Mooney may be losing a good chunk of seniors after this season, but with Radinsky running the show at setter, they’ve got a key piece locked down for the future. The Cardinals’ offense is in good hands for years to come.
