RYAN TAKES HIS GAME – AND LEGACY – TO TRINE
NILES, OH- Warren JFK standout Nick Ryan is trading in the blue and white of the Eagles for the navy and gold of Trine University. After capping off one of the most decorated basketball careers in school history, Ryan is set to continue his journey on the hardwood this fall with the Thunder.
If you’ve followed JFK hoops in all the past few seasons, you’ve heard the name Nick Ryan and are probably aware of his list of accolades from being named the MVCA Player of the Year to breaking the school’s all-time scoring record with over 1,900 career points, Ryan left a legacy at Kennedy that few will ever touch. Nick is the 2025 Trumbull County Basketball Player of the Year and was also a standout in the Kennedy Boys Soccer Program, earning All-State accolades in each sport.
He was more than a scorer, too. Ryan filled the stat sheet every night — 26.5 points, nearly 12 boards, 2.7 steals, and 2.5 assists per game — all while playing with the motor and heart of a kid who just loved the game.
Ryan’s competitive fire wasn’t limited to the basketball court. He was also an All-Region soccer player, making an impact for Kennedy in multiple sports. But it was basketball where his heart always was, and now he’s set to take that same fire to Trine.
Next stop: Angola, Indiana — home of Trine University. The Thunder are getting more than just a scorer. They’re getting a grinder, a playmaker, and a born leader.
