SALEM GETS CLIPPED BY DUKES

SALEM, OHIO- The Salem Quakers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-3 loss to Marlington on Wednesday.

The Quakers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Marlington, giving up ten runs.

Marlington got on the board in the first inning when Wyatt Dillon’s sac fly scored one then Marlington scored three runs in the third inning. The Dukes big inning was driven by a single by Carter DiFloure and an error on a ball put in play by Dylan Heatherington.

DiFloure earned the win for Marlington as the fireballer went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out three.

Gavin Wilms led the Quakers with two hits in three at bats. Carson Rhodes took the loss for the Quakers as he surrendered six runs on six hits over four innings, striking out five.

Salem will try and bounce back when they take on South Range on Saturday.
