SALEM GETS RIGHT BACK TO WINNING

SALEM OH-  Cardinal Mooney watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-2 loss to Salem on Thursday. Salem took the lead on a double in the first inning.

The Cardinal Mooney  struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Salem, giving up 13 runs.

The Cardinals got things started in the first inning. They scored one run when Logan Boyd singled.

Salem scored eight runs in the fourth inning. Brock Young, Blaize Exline, Jackson Johnson, Darius Beck, and Corey Riesen all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Carson Rhodes was the winning pitcher for Salem. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven.

Cole Litman took the loss for Cardinal Mooney. The pitcher allowed seven hits and nine runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.

Boyd led the Cardinals with two hits in two at bats.

Salem collected ten hits. Young, Beck, and Gavin Wilms all managed multiple hits. Salem didn’t commit a single error in the field. Beck had the most chances in the field with seven.
