SALEM SWIRLS BY STREETSBORO ON TO DISTRICTS

SALEM OH- The Salem Lady Quakers opened up their Division II tournament quest as they rolled over the visiting Streetsboro Rockets 49-30 in Saturday’s action. Salem came out red hot as they jumped out to a quick 15-0 advantage with sharp shooter Case Johnson draining 3 1st quarter 3-pointers. The Rockets had trouble breaking Salem press which caused numerous turn-overs. The Quakers tooka  to a  17-6 1st period lead as coach Sarah Hamilton played 10 girls in the opening frame.

Salem’s entire roster of 14 Lady Quakers saw minutes in the contest. Johnson paced the Quakers as she finished with a game high 17 points hitting on 5 shots from beyond the arc. Abbie Davidson nailed down 11 points followed by Kyla Jamison with 10 scores.

Salem returns to the hardwood with a big game Monday with Alliance. A Quakers victory would mean that they will share the EBC title with the Dukes of Marlington. Salem will return to tournament action on Wednesday as they will host Kenston with tip-off at 7 o’clock.
