SALEM TAKES OUT FRUSTRATION ON LIONS

SALEM OH- The Salem Quakers bounced back from their first loss of the season in a big way Friday night with a 66-0 victory over Minerva on Homecoming at Sebo Stadium Friday Night.

After a 27-21 OT loss at Alliance in week 5, which saw the Quakers turn the ball over 3 times, and struggle to finish drives, Salem scored early and often to the tune of 42 first quarter points.

Offensively the Quakers were led by Jackson Johnson, who threw for a school record 7 touchdowns on the night: 3 to Senior Blaize Exline, 3 to Caden Swiger, and one to Austin Sinkovich. Johnson would also punch in two scores on the ground.

Not to be outdone, the defense pitched their second shutout of the year (Akron Firestone in week 4). They forced the Lions into 7 turnovers (four INTs, 3 fumbles) which gave the a Quakers short field and they were able to take advantage. Ross Davidson was the star on defense and led the charge with three interceptions and a fumble recovery. Senior Cam Jaquette had the other interception.

The Quakers (5-1, 1-1) continue EBC play as they travel to Marlington next week to take on the Dukes. Kickoff is set for 7:00.
