SALEM WINS ON THE ROAD

EAST LIVERPOOL OH- The Beavers and Quakers went at it on Friday night in a high scoring affair that saw the Quakers take home victory by a score of 40-27

The Quakers got the scoring started on a TD pass from QB Jackson Johnson to Ross Davidson. Salem kept their foot on the gas on both sides of the ball, forcing multiple punts and turnovers in the first half and moving the ball at will, as Jackson Johnson led the offense to two more scores before half by way of a Dominic Maniscalco TD run and a Jackson Johnson TD run. Going down 21-0 at half, the Beavers came out with a spark in the second half, with a solid kick return by Blake Lucas to set up a 37 yard TD pass from Austin Cline to Dylan Ferguson.

Salem decided to get right back at the Beavers with a long TD pass from Jackson Johnson to Donnie Oesch. A couple drives later the Beavers connected on a 14 yard TD pass, as Cline found Caleb White to cut the deficit back to 2 scores, but once again Salem answered. Dillon Monroy caught a TD pass from Johnson to stretch the lead back out to 3 scores, but the Beavers were never going down without a fight. On a roll out, Cline fired down the field for White as the two connected for the second time on the day, this time from 44 yards out. It was a 2 score game heading into the 4th, and Johnson showed the savviness of a 4 year starter, putting together a long, time consuming TD drive that he capped off with another TD run, his 5th total TD of the day, that out the lead wide enough to win the game. Beaver Local wasn’t ready to give up though, as they put together a quick score via a Cline QB sneak TD, but Salem got the ball on the kickoff and didn’t give it back before the clock reached zeros, as the Quaker offense showed up and showed out in the win.

The Quakers go back home for a matchup with East Liverpool, while the Beavers get a chance to get in the win column on their home field against Minerva.
