SALEM’S CINDERELLA SEASON COMES JUST SHORT OF STATE

NORTH CANTON, OH- Salem stayed in it until the end, but Archbishop Hoban pulled away late in a 4-1 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at one with Archbishop Hoban batting in the top of the eighth when Caleb Kepler singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Salem got on the board in the second inning. Carson Rhodes drove in one when he doubled.

In the top of the fourth inning, Archbishop Hoban tied things up at one when Kepler singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Shawn Parnell (Cincinnatti commit) was on the mound for Archbishop Hoban. The bulldog went eight innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out 12.

Gavin Wilms started the game for Salem. The right-hander went five innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out seven. Rhodes threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Lane RhodesRhodesNick ColettaWilms, and Corey Riesen all had one hit to lead Salem.

Archbishop Hoban scattered seven hits in the game. Alex Givens and Kepler each had multiple hits for Archbishop Hoban. Kepler led Archbishop Hoban with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
