SCRAPPERS STUNNED IN THE LAST FRAME

NILES, OH- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers dropped a heart-breaker in the last inning of game 2 of the series against the Trenton Thunder. The Scrappers and Thunder only played 7 innings because of the MLB Draft League rules on Tuesday games, and the Scrappers couldn’t overcome the comeback by Trenton.

Trenton scored first in the top of the second inning on a double off the right field wall by Jorge Bojorquez. Trenton added one more in the fourth inning on an RBI single by University of Alabama commit Nathaniel Ochoa. The Scrappers then got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a wild pitch. The Scrappers had the bases loaded in the sixth inning, and an error by the shortstop scored 2 runs to take a 3-2 lead. Trenton had 3 outs left in the seventh, and John Cristino blasted a 412 foot home run to center field to take a 3-2 lead in the seventh. Trenton gave up a 2 out base hit to Bobby Sparling in the ninth inning, but no damage was done to win the ballgame 3-2.

The Scrappers look to salvage the series sweep tomorrow night in the series finale. First pitch starts at 7:05 P.M. You can tune into the live broadcast on YSNLive.com
