SECOND HALF SPARK PUSHES KNIGHTS PAST WARRIORS

AKRON, OH — The Archbishop Hoban Knights showcased their dominance in front of a home crowd Tuesday night, pulling away with a commanding 79-56 victory over the Walsh Jesuit Warriors (2-13). A pivotal third quarter saw the Knights surge past their rivals, solidifying their 12th win of the season.
Hoban (12-1) held a slim 32-31 edge at halftime before erupting in the third quarter, outscoring Walsh Jesuit 25-5. The Knights continued to apply pressure in the fourth, finishing with 22 points in the period to seal the victory.
John Johnson led the way for Hoban with a game-high 25 points, including four three-pointers and a perfect 5-for-5 performance from the free-throw line. Kenny Scott added 14 points, fueled by six free throws, while James McCarthy and Kamran Ensley chipped in with 11 points each. The Knights showcased their depth, with contributions from eight players overall.
For Walsh Jesuit, Anthony Spain paced the Warriors with 17 points, draining five three-pointers. JP McMullin added 13 points, and Grant Blascak contributed seven, but the Warriors couldn’t keep up with Hoban’s balanced attack and dominant second-half performance.
The Knights will face another tough test on Friday, Jan. 23, when they host the Gilmour Academy Lancers (9-5) at “The Castle” of Barry Gym in Akron. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
