SENIOR NIGHT BODES WELL FOR HOBAN

AKRON OH- Sidney Conti wasted no opportunities at the plate on Wednesday, driving in five on two hits to lead Archbishop past St. Joseph Academy 20-1. Conti drove in runs on a groundout in the first, a double in the second, and a home run in the fourth.

An early lead helped propel the Knights to victory. They took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.

Hoban scored 15 runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Taylor Gerring, Kalie Watson, Lacie Quarles, and Nylah Durham, walks by Watson, Mackenzie Wood, and Kennedy Bray, doubles by Conti and Bray, a sacrifice fly by Durham, and a groundout by Quarles.

Faith Porter took the win for the Knights. The righty surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Robyn Ryan threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Knights hit one home run on the day. Conti had a four bagger in the fourth inning.

Hoban collected eight hits on the day. Gerring and Conti all managed multiple hits. Conti and Gerring each collected two hits to lead. Hoban was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Conti had the most chances in the field with eight. The Knights stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Durham led the way with two.
