SHAW DEALS NO-HITTER; CANFIELD CRUISES

WARREN, OH- Canfield’s pitching staff is on fire, and the bats aren’t exactly cold.

Nate Shaw was brilliant again on the pitcher’s mound on Monday, as Shaw threw a no-hitter to lead the Canfield Cardinals past Warren Harding 13-0.  This is the second no-hitter of the year for Shaw, the first was a combined no-no with Jake Grdic in Toledo early last month.

Canfield secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the second inning. Ryan Petro, Jameson Beck, Ethan Prout, Ben Slanker, and Shaw powered the big inning with RBIs.

Shaw was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out 11.

Maffit took the loss for the Raiders. Maffit surrendered seven runs on three hits over two innings, striking out three.

Canfield tallied one home run on the day. Ben Slanker sent a moon-shot to right field in the second inning.

Petro went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Canfield in hits.
