SHAYLEE TAKES HER SHOTS

BELOIT OH- It’s hard enough to qualify for district in golf, try qualifying for three years in a row.  That is exactly what Shaylee Muckleroy has done so far in her career at West Branch. Muckleroy has been a staple in the golf world at West Branch, and a big reason why the program has grown. Her freshman year, they didn’t have enough golfers to qualify to districts as a team. Now, not only do they have enough, they are good enough to advance to the district level while missing one of their top scorers. Shaylee now gets to take a team with her to districts. That means more to her than anything.

Here are some achievements that Shaylee has acquired over the last two seasons with West Branch:

2021:

•North 1st team all league

•Second team all tournament (post-season)

•Qualified for districts as an individual

•Broke the school record with a 37 at Westville Lake

•3rd place subregional overall for the Drive Chip and Putt contest

•2nd place subregional putt at the Drive Chip and Putt contest

•1st place at Independent Insurance Agents of Mahoning County Junior Golf Classic at Mill Creek

•2nd place Olde Dutch Mill tournament

•Qualified for the Joe Dickey Electric Greatest Golfer championship tournament

2022:

•1st team all tournament (pre-season)

•North 1st team all league

• 1st team all tournament (pre-season)

•Qualified for districts as a team

•1st place in Joe Dickey Greatest Golfer qualifier tournament at Olde Dutch Mill

•Qualified for the Joe Dickey Electric Greatest Golfer Championship Tournament

Shaylee took the time to come on to YSN’s Running Point this week to talk to us about her career, and her trip to districts. She talks with Richie Juliano about her approach to the sport, what she needs to do to advance to state, and much more. Check out the latest West Branch Golf Player Profile only on YSN.
