SHOUT OUTLOUD; REBELS PUNCH TICKET TO DISTRICT FINAL

SALEM, OH- The Crestview Volleyball program hasn’t won a district championship in three seasons. That was when the current senior class were freshman. The hungry group got one step closer Wednesday night with a three-set win over Waterloo. (25-20 25-19 25-16).

In set one Crestview had to navigate some tightness. Waterloo jumped out to an early lead with the help of several unforced errors. After a timeout, the Rebels stepped up their game. Tess Neville carried the Rebels through with 5 kills in the set. Once Crestview caught their stride, there was nothing Waterloo could do. Set one went to the Rebels by a score of 25-20.

The Rebels continued to dominate as set two went on. The Rambo sisters caused havoc in the front row. With a combination of them, Neville, and Molly Emch the impressive blocking of Waterloo was stretched too thin. Emch was given plenty of one on one opportunities and won most of them. Rebels rolled again in set two 25-19.

By set three Waterloo’s fatigue got the better of them. They had been chasing the Rebel hitters across the net all night and now they just couldn’t get into position. The Rebels took full advantage of this and kicked their aggressiveness to a new gear. They caught the Vikings on their heels and finished set three, and the sweep quickly 25-16.

The Rebel kills were well spread out, Shelby Rambo led with 10 kills, her sister Sidney had 8. Three Rebels finished with 7 kills. Tess Neville added 2 aces. Molly Emch along with her 7 kills had 3 blocks. Brenna Auer added 8 digs to her 7 kills. Lucy Montgomery finished with 29 assists and 3 digs. Amelia Montgomery finished with 12 digs.

Crestview moves on to play South Range in the district championship game. That match will be Saturday, October 26th at 2:30 at Salem High School.
