SLOW START LEADS TO BIG FINISH FOR COLUMBIANA

COLUMBIANA, OH- There were many left scratching their heads after the first quarter ended and the Lady Clippers had a 4-1 lead over United.  Both teams were slow out of the locker room to start things but turned up the scoring the rest of the way, but in the end, Columbiana and the press was too much for United as the Clippers scurried away with a 43-31 victory.

United scored 15 in the second frame and went into the half trailing by just one, but we presume to be a stellar halftime speech from Coach Crismon gave his Clippers plenty of fuel, and a 19 point explosion happened in the third quarter to provide separation.  Senior Kayla Muslovski set the tone with 19 points on the night, which was supplemented by great efforts on both ends of the floor from Grace Hammond (15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) Karissa Tringhese (3 points) and Tori Long (6 points.)

The Lady Eagles were paced by Bailey Boosz who had 11 points and 3 rebounds, and Celeste Hofmeister who had a 7-point evening.

Columbiana (4-3, 3-0) will enjoy their break until after the New Year where they’ll play Leetonia at home on January 2nd.  United will head to Lowellville Saturday to take on the Lady Rockets.
