SOUTH RANGE ENDS SMALL SKID
CANFIELD OH- Ashley Rupert brought the heat and the lineup backed her up as South Range took care of business against Girard, cruising to a 10-4 win on Tuesday.
Rupert was sharp in the circle, punching out 11 over seven innings while scattering nine hits and allowing just four runs. She walked a couple but stayed in control the whole way.
Kiera Winner was a problem at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a single in the first, a double in the third, and another single in the sixth. South Range got rolling early with a couple of knocks in the opening frame, including a run-scoring single to get the party started.
Giada Pauline chipped in with an RBI knock in the third to keep things moving, and the real damage came in the sixth. The Raiders lit up the scoreboard with five runs on four hits—Brogan brought in one with a single, Aey roped a triple to score another, and Winner capped the rally with an RBI single. A couple of Girard errors helped fuel the rally too.
South Range finished with 12 hits on the day, with Solena DeJesus adding two of her own. They swiped four bags and didn’t boot a single ball in the field—Heidi Bartels held it down defensively with 12 chances.
Girard had some fight, picking up nine hits of their own. Riley Collins knocked in two from the eight-hole, while Quinn Wilster and Brooklyn Broll each collected a pair of hits. But South Range had too much firepower and too much Rupert.
