SOUTH RANGE GIRLS TIP OFF IN STYLE

Lady Raiders opened the season with a 44-32  win over Madison in the Toni Ross Spirit Foundation tournament at Howland.

The game started slow offensively as both teams worked to find a rhythm. The Raiders held a 10-8 lead after the first frame, 8 of those 10 points coming in the paint.

The second quarter was more of the same story. Maddie Durkin and Danielle Vuletich helped the Raiders find ways to score in the paint. The Raiders took a 18-16 lead into the half despite shooting 0-9 from 3 point range.

The third quarter is where the Raiders pulled away. Samantha Patrone buried two three-pointers within a minute to push the Raider lead to 27-18. The perimeter threat opened up the interior for Durkin and freshman Izzy Lamparty. The Raiders doubled their halftime score in the 3rd finishing the frame with a 36-24 lead.

The Raiders never let Madison back into the game from that point and cruised their way to a 44-32 win. Maddie Durkin lead the way with 14 points Izzy Lamparty was also in double digits with 12 while Danielle Vuletich added 9. The Raiders advance to play in the tournament championship Saturday night at 7:30 vs the winner of Howland and Lakeview.
