SPARTANS BEAT OUT BRANCH IN A SATURDAY MATINEE

BOARDMAN OH- Gabi Sferra didn’t allow a single run against West Branch, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Boardman to a 2-0 victory on Saturday

The pitching was strong on both sides. Sferra struck out 13, while Klary McKay sat down seven.

One bright spot for the Warriors was a single by Josie Milliken in the seventh inning.

Sferra was credited with the victory for Boardman. She surrendered zero runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking zero.

McKay took the loss for West Branch. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out seven.

The Spartans racked up six hits in the game. Alex Ward and Tori Strines all collected multiple hits. Strines and Ward each collected two hits to lead. Boardman was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Olivia Lacivita made the most plays with 13.

Milliken led the Warriors with one hit in three at bats. West Branch didn’t commit a single error in the field. Sara Schmidt had the most chances in the field with nine.
