SPARTANS HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SENIOR NIGHT

BOARDMAN OH- Boardman defeated Warren G. Harding Raiders 10-0 on senior night Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Tori Strines induced a fly out from Bri’Asia Freeman to finish off the game.

Alex Ward led the  Spartans to victory by driving in five runs. Ward went 3-for-3 at the plate. Ward drove in runs on a single in the first, a triple in the second, and a single in the fourth.

In the first inning, Boardman got their offense started when Natalie Davis singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Boardman tallied five runs in the fourth inning. Davis, Ward, Leah Habeger, and Cami Goske each drove in runs during the inning.

A double by Kerrigan Riley in the first inning was a positive for Warren G. Harding.

Davis got the win for Boardman. She went four and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking zero. Strines threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Riley took the loss for the Raiders. The hurler allowed 12 hits and ten runs over four innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Boardman racked up 12 hits. Ward, Davis, Maddie Wymer, and Habeger each collected multiple hits. Davis and Ward all had three hits to lead the way. The Spartans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Wymer had the most chances in the field with eight.

Riley went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Warren G. Harding in hits.
