SPARTANS INVADE CRESTVIEW AND DOMINATE

Boardman Spartans defeated Crestview 14-0 on Monday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Gina Sferra struck out Alexis Smith to finish off the game.

Boardman got on the board in the first inning when Jenna Olexa grounded out, scoring one run.

The Spartans put up five runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower was led by Nadia Rawhneh, Sofia Hoffman, Dana Haus, and Olexa, all driving in runs in the frame.

A double by Karsyn Moore in the fourth inning was a positive for Crestview.

Madison Lester took the win for Boardman. The righthander lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero. Katryn OHoro and Sferra entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. OHoro recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

Kaedyn Sutton took the loss for Crestview. The hurler allowed 16 hits and 12 runs over three innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Boardman tallied one home run on the day. Olexa had a long ball in the third inning.

The Spartans collected 19 hits on the day. Sam Hoffman, Rawhneh, Olexa, Haus, Lester, Hoffman, and Morgan Cherne each had multiple hits. Rawhneh and Hoffman all had three hits to lead.

Moore went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Crestview in hits.
