SPARTANS SPOIL POLAND’S UNBEATEN SEASON

POLAND OH- After a thrilling walk off victory a night before, Poland looked to keep their momentum going on Saturday morning against Boardman.  Tori Strines and the Spartans defense had other plans as they stalled the Bulldogs offense on their way to a 3-1 win ending Poland’s unbeaten season.

At the plate Natalie Davis had a great day for Boardman. The senior was perfect going 2-2 with 2 RBI.  Strines and Ava Freeborough also collected multiple hits going 2-4 each.  Maddie Dravecky also added a hit going 1-3.

Strines went the distance in the circle, and kept the Bulldogs offense off balance the whole time.  She gave up just 1 earned run on  7 hits and struck out 4.

Leanna Boccieri and Mary Brant both contributed multiple hits to the lineup for Poland both going 2-3.  Further down the lineup Ella Gaffney also went 2-3 on the day.

Katie McDonald struck out 10 batters despite the loss. She gave up 7 hits and walked 3.  McDonald threw 112 pitches less than 24 hours after throwing 117 against Sharpsville.
