Springfield had no trouble on offense today, winning big over Jackson-Milton 11-1

The Tigers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Aaron Groner’s sac fly scored one run.

Springfield notched three runs in the fifth inning. Their big inning was driven by a walk by Groner and a single by Ethan Mannion.

Alex Rothwell earned the victory on the mound for the Tigers. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out eight. Braden Butler threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Drew Sloan took the loss for Jackson-Milton. The hurler surrendered five runs on six hits over three innings, striking out two.

Springfield collected nine hits. Mannion and Sean Gardner each racked up multiple hits. Mannion went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. Springfield tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Gardner led the way with two.

Ryen Romigh led Jackson-Milton with one hit in two at bats.
