SPRINGFIELD LOADS UP TO BEAT LEOPARDS

Gianna Piccuta did the opposing team no favors on Thursday, picking up four hits over four at bats and leading Springfield to a 15-3 win over Liberty. Piccuta singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and doubled in the fifth.

Liberty scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Springfield still managed to pull out the victory.

The Tigers notched six runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Springfield was led by Carlee Bacon, Piccuta, Abby Joseph, and Haleigh McCalla, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Joseph was in the circle for the Tigers. The hurler surrendered three runs on two hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Springfield tallied two home runs on the day. Bacon put one out in the fourth inning. Joseph went deep in the fourth inning.

The Tigers collected 12 hits. Piccuta, Joseph, Madi Lesnak, and Bacon all managed multiple hits. Piccuta went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.
