STARTING STRONG RAIDERS TAKE DOWN CANFIELD

The South Range boys’ basketball team waited a long time to get back on the court in the offseason. The saying goes good things come to those who wait. The Raiders used a 16-8 third quarter to pull away from Canfield and win 65-47.

The game was a real back and forth affair up until that 16-8 third frame. With 14 seconds left in the first half, the Raiders led 31-28 and the Cardinals had the ball. They were poised with the opportunity to either cut the lead to one or tie the game before halftime. Kris Scandy had other plans though as he jumped into a passing lane got the steal, and got the deep three at the buzzer to put the Raiders up 34-28 at the break. It was all Raiders from that point on.

Chris Brooks was just a rebound away from a double-double with a 26 point 9 rebound effort. Dante DiGaetano was also in double figures with 14 points and 7 rebounds.

The Raiders return to the floor on Tuesday night as they host LaBrae.
