STOKING THE FIRE

WELLSVILLE OH- The Wellsville Tigers volleyball team has plenty of strong talent featured on their roster. It is one of the reasons why Wellsville is considered one of the favorites to punch a ticket to state.

Presley Stokes set the world on fire in her freshman season showing everyone how elite of a talent she was. She shared YSN’s Freshman of the Year with Abby Emch from Crestview. She finished the season with 431 kills on the season.  With an impressive hitting percentage of .417.  She also shined on defense racking up 265 digs with only 26 defensive errors all season. She averaged 3 digs per set.  At the net she totaled 59 blocks.  56 of those 59 blocks were solo blocks.

This season Stokes won’t only be an asset on her offense, her blocking, and her digging, but she’ll also step into a setting position as part of a 6-2 offense. It might just make her the most well rounded player we see this season.  It’s an extremely selfless move to step up into a setting role for her team. Stokes may lose some kills from her total last season, but the team will be better for it.

Presley joined YSN’s Running Point after working out in Wellsville’s gym and talked about the upcoming season.  She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about the competitiveness of her family, stepping into the role of a setter, and much more. Don’t miss this exclusive interview with one of the best volleyball players in the area, only on YSN.
