BOARDMAN OH- Last season Boardman brought out a freshman pitcher that lit the world up by surprise. As soon as Tori Strines stepped on the field, everyone knew who she was. Whether it be her prolific work inside the circle, or her dangerous bay on offense, Strines struck fear into the Spartans opposition. Most of that might have been contributed to the element of surprise. No one had a book on Tori Strines. The second season is when players prove how great they are. Strines wasn’t going to surprise anyone this season. She’d be someone that was circled three times on everyone’s scouting report. Strines hasn’t been bothered by the extra attention though. Despite the adjustments that other teams have made on her, Strines has continued to thrive for Boardman. She is still doing it on both sides of the ball, pitching well, and leading as a hitter. The numbers speak for themselves.
In the circle Tori has pitched 51 innings. That ranks second on the team in a staff that features a three pitcher rotation. Strines has an ERA of 2.19 and has struck out 52 and only walked 10. She ranks second on the team in opponent’s batting average as other teams hit .318 off her. At the plate herself Strines hits .343 with 8 doubles, 1 triple, and 11 RBI.
Tori took the time to check in with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to talk about her sophomore campaign. She talks about how hungry they are this season, the transition between freshman and sophomore season, and much more. Check out the latest Boardman Softball Player Profile only on YSN!
