STRUTHERS WEATHERS THE STORM, RALLY PAST BEAVER LOCAL
EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- Struthers weathered a push by Beaver Local in the third inning where the Wildcats coughed up three runs, but Struthers still won 16-4 on Thursday. Dorian Jackson and Jordan Mick all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
The Wildcats secured the victory thanks to ten runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Ronnie Leonard, JD Hall, Jared Laczko, and Billy Opritza and walks by Opritza and Brandon Breznai.
Struthers got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run for the Wildcats. Struthers exploded for ten runs in the third inning. Opritza, Leonard, Breznai, Hall, Laczko, and Opritza each had RBIs in the big inning.
Leonard pitched Struthers to victory. He allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out three.
Avery Wiegand took the loss for Beaver Local. He allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one.
The Wildcats tallied 13 hits. Hall, Laczko, Hunter Stellato, and Leonard all managed multiple hits for Struthers. Hall went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
