LONGHORNS LALLY OUTLASTS BEES IN PITCHER’S DUEL

AUSTINTOWN OH- The Brooklyn Bonnie Bees and the Ohio Longhorn-Lally faced off on Friday in the 16U NABF World Series. A very tight matchup with no scoring from either side going into the bottom of the sixth, the Longhorns squeezed out a single run to take the lead and ultimately take the victory, 1-0.

Elijah Drake, Owen Boone, and Antonio Modica all three contributed a hit each for the Longhorns. Drake had a 1-2 day with a run scored and a stolen base. Boone went 1-2 on the day. Modica went 1-3 on the day with an RBI and a stolen base.

Sam Kerscher went the full distance and got the win on the mound for the Longhorns. In his 7 IP, he gave up 6 hits. He struck out 1 on the day.

MID ATLANTIC RALLIES THROUGH TO VICTORY

STRUTHERS OH- In 16U action of the NABF World Series, FTB Mid Atlantic faced off with East Coast Michigan on Friday. Mid Atlantic’s eleven hits and six RBIs on the day helped  propel them to a 6-2 victory.

Conner Rippo was on fire at the plate for Mid Atlantic. He finished 3-4 on the day with a run scored, and 3 RBIs. Sam Grube and Brinden Floyed both added 2 hits on the day. Grube went 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Floyd went 2-3 with an RBI.

Rippo also got the win on the mound for Mid Atlantic. In his 4 IP, he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit. He finished with 3 strikeouts on the day.

BONNIE BEES EDGE OUT HURRICANES

STRUTHERS OH- The offenses were alive and well on Thursday in a16U NABF matchup between the Ohio Hurricanes, and the Brooklyn Bonnie Bees.  Trailing by 2 in the bottom of the 7th, the Bees scored 3 to earn a walk off victory 9-8.

Julian Poleon blasted 2 RBI home after going 1-3 with a run scored.  Yaniel Torres had multiple hits going 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.  Jerrame Marizan went 1-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Matthew Campbell went 1-4 with a RBI.

Brandon Lurie had a great day for the Hurricanes going 2-4 with a run scored. He hit in 2 RBI.  Jaden Murdock also captured 2 RBI going 2-5. He scored a run as well.  Jaylen Greer went 2-3 with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI.

CREEKSIDE ROPES THE LONGHORNS

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside’s 16U squad opened up their NABF World Series run on a strong note Thursday with a 7-3 win over the Ohio Longhorns Lally.

Tyler Mikulin had a strong bat going 1-2 with 3 RBI on the day. Carter Owens managed multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.  Frank Senediak also managed multiple hits going 2-4 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Mason Petridis grabbed multiple hits as well going 2-3 with a run scored.

Owens was given the win on the hill for Creekside. He went 3.2 innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 8.

STORM EARN A SPOT IN PLATINUM BRACKET

Steel Valley Storm beat The Mill Fastpitch Lakers 16U 8-4 on Saturday to punch a spot in the Platinum Bracket at the All Sanctioned World Series

Steel Valley Storm got on the board in the first inning when Lorelei Monk induced Christina Montgomery to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Steel Valley Storm notched three runs in the sixth inning. Laci Jurus and Montgomery each drove in runs during the inning.

Gretchen Bartels got the win for Steel Valley Storm. The righty lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out five.

Monk took the loss for The Mill Fastpitch Lakers. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out one.

Steel Valley Storm socked one home run on the day. Bartels had a dinger in the first inning.

Gabby Goddard led Steel Valley Storm with two hits in three at bats.

The Mill Fastpitch Lakers collected eight hits on the day. Dathal Guzman and Miabella Collazo all managed multiple hits.

STORM BRING THE RAIN

COLUMBUS OH-  Through the rain drops on a Saturday morning, the Steel Valley Storm found their second win of pool play in Columbus with a 8-2 win over the Lady Irish.

Gretchen Bartels continues to drive in runs at an impressive clip as she went 2-2 with 5 RBI on the day.  Olivia LaCivita went 1-2 with a RBI. Sophia Rivera also managed a RBI on the day. Ava Freeborough was never retired as she went 1-1 with a walk, and 2 runs scored.

Sophia LaCivita got the win for the Storm in the circle. She went 3 and 1/3 innings and gave up no earned runs on 2 hits. She struck out a pair.

STORM COMES BACK TO SPLIT FIRST DAY IN COLUMBUS

COLUMBUS OH- After falling in their first game of the day, the Steel Valley Storm picked themselves up with an impressive comeback victory of the USSSA Pride Platinum team in a 6-4 win. The Storm scored 6 unanswered runs after falling behind 4-0 early.

Gretchen Bartels led the team in production knocking in 2 RBI on a 1-2 day. Maddie Wymer led in hits with a 2-3 effort collecting 1 RBI and a run scored. Gabby Goddard and Christina Montgomery both notched RBI as well. The biggest hit of the game came from Laci Jurus who broke a 4-4 tie in the last inning. It proved to be the game winning hit.

Leah Habeger got the win in the circle for the Storm as she threw 5 innings and gave up 1 run on 4 hits. She struck out 1, and avoided any walks.

STORM FALL ON WRONG END OF SLUGFEST

COLUMBUS OH-

Steel Valley Storm lost the lead late in an 11-9 defeat to Cannons on Friday. The game was tied at seven with Cannons batting in the top of the sixth when Alayna Henry singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Steel Valley Storm collected ten hits and Cannons had 11 in the high-scoring affair.

Cannons got on the board in the first inning. An error scored one run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Steel Valley Storm tied things up at seven. Sophia LaCivita drove in one when she singled.

Steel Valley Storm tallied five runs in the fourth inning. The offense in the inning came from a home run by Gretchen Bartels and a double by Ava Freeborough.

Marissa Pine led the Cannons to victory in the circle. The pitcher went six innings, allowing nine runs on ten hits and striking out four.

LaCivita took the loss for Steel Valley Storm. LaCivita allowed ten hits and 11 runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Steel Valley Storm launched two home runs on the day. Christina Montgomery had a homer in the sixth inning. Bartels put one out in the fourth inning.

Steel Valley Storm collected ten hits on the day. Freeborough and Sophia Rivera all managed multiple hits. Rivera and Freeborough each collected two hits to lead.

STORM WIN BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOARDMAN OH- With a championship on the line, the Steel Valley Storm matched up with a familiar Ohio Monsters team. The Storm beat them in the semifinals in their last tournament, and took them down in pool play on Saturday. The Storm made it 3 for 3 on Sunday and earned another bracket championship on the summer with a 14-4 run rule win.

Christina Montgomery capped off an amazing day going 3-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI.  Lilly Ditz also went 3-3 for the game including a triple and drove in 4 RBI.  Gabby Goddard went 1-3 with a RBI.  Gretchen Bartels smashed a RBI double to the gap to give her a 1-4 effort.

Sophia LaCivita pitched the Storm to a championship going 4 innings and giving up 3 earned runs on 7 hits.

STORM LOCK IN SPOT IN ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP

BOARDMAN OH- In their last weekend out, the Steel Valley Storm won their bracket in their own tournament. After their 9-2 victory over Ohio Hurricanes- Green on Sunday in the semifinals, they secured their spot in another bracket championship.

Maddie Wymer was the big bay in this one, going 2-3 on the day with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Christina Montgomery continued her strong Sunday with a 2-3 day with 2 RBI.  Gabby Goddard was perfect at the plate going 1-1 with a walk, and a RBI.  Leah Habeger went 1-2 and added a RBI.

Gretchen Bartels got the win this time for the Storm in the circle. She went the complete 3 inning game and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 3.
