STORM SURGE INTO BRACKET PLAY

BOARDMAN OH- After going 3-0 in pool play, the Steel Valley Storm came in to Sunday’s bracket play as the number 1 seed. It was time to earn it on the field.  They opened their run in the bracket with a 9-2 win over the Ohio Hurricanes-Orange.

Christina Montgomery broke out big time with a 4 RBI day.  She went 2-3 with a HR. Sophia Rivera also acquired 2 hits going 2-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Ava Freeborough knocked in the other 2 RBI of the day going 1-2 with 2 runs scored.

Leah Habeger got the victory in the circle. She went all 4 innings that were played and only gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits. She struck out 4.

WHITING SWEEPS THEIR WAY TO 16U TITLE

STRUTHERS OH- Whiting Roll-Offs needed every bite of their big offense on Saturday as they won their third straight game to sweep Creekside in the Championship Series. Whiting’s offense flexed on their way to a 10-8 win.

Like he has been so many times this summer, Aiden Leiendecker was the biggest bat in the order. He went 3-4 at the top of the order and knocked in 3 RBI. He also scored a run.  Owen Keister was productive as well as he went 1-3 with a run scored, and 2 RBI. Nate Thomas was also 1-3 with 2 RBI.  Kallen Durbin was never retired going 2-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.

Dom Bumblis took the win on the hill for Whiting. He went 5 innings and gave up 6 earned runs.  He struck out 2.

Andrew Kali was the leader of Creekside’s offense going 3-4 on the day with 2 RBI. Tommy Smith also went 3-4 with a RBI.  He scored a pair of runs.  Dawson Smail was a perfect 3-3 with a walk, and 3 runs scored.

 

STORM LOOKS STRONG HEADING IN TO SUNDAY

BOARDMAN OH- Steel Valley Storm did everything they could to take momentum in to bracket play Sunday with their last game of pool play.  The Storm offense continued to see the ball well as they rolled to a 12-5 victory to head in to Sunday with a 3-0 record.

Gabby Goddard made it a 4 RBI day with two more in this game to add to the two in the last. She went 1-2 this time around.  Christina Montgomery nailed down multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored.  Ava Freeborough also had a strong day going 2-2 with 3 runs scored. Olivia LaCivita had a pair of RBI. Sophia Rivera went 1-1 with a RBI.

Sophia LaCivita, and Leah Habeger split the 4 innings that were played. Habeger gave up 0 runs on 1 hit in her two innings and struck out a hitter. LaCivita was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits striking out 1.

STORM FIND EASE IN EARLY MORNING BOUT

BOARDMAN OH- It was a 8:00 start time for the Steel Valley Storm to open their Saturday. However?, they never needed a wake up call. The Storm barreled their way to a 12-3 win over the Ohio Hurricanes.

After her 4 RBI performance on Friday, Maddie Wymer backed it up with a 3 RBI game to open up Saturday play.  She went 2-2 with a run scored.  Gabby Goddard knocked in a pair of RBI going 1–1 with a walk. Sophia LaCivita also collected 2 RBI going 1-2 on the day.

Gretchen Bartels was rewarded the win in the circle. She went 2.2 IP and gave up 0 runs on 3 hits and struck out 1.

STORM MAKES WAVES IN POOL PLAY

BOARDMAN OH- After a weekend off of softball, Steel Valley Storm returned to the field with a bang. On day one of pool play on Friday, the Storm rampaged to a 13-1 run rule victory over the Dream Crushers.

Maddie Wymer was the most productive bat of the night for the Storm. She went 2-3 on the day with 4 RBI, including the walk off double. She also scored 2 runs.  Raegan Cool was never retired going 1-1 with a walk, and a pair of RBI.  Leah Habeger was also perfect at the plate going 1-1 with a walk and a RBI.

Habeger pitched the Storm to a win in the circle as well. She went all 3 innings of the run rule game, gave up 1 run on 2 hits. She struck out 2.

WHITING SWEEPS ASTRO FALCONS

STRUTHERS OH- Whiting Roll-Offs may have lost first place in the Livi division in the last weekend of the regular season, but that didn’t stop them from coming into the playoffs strong. With back to back wins Whiting clinched a sweep of Astro Falcons to punch their ticket to the championship series. They beat the Falcons 8-7 in Game 2.

Ben Miller came up clutch at the plate for Whiting. He went 2-5 with 3 RBI.  Corbin Sevcik also went 2-5 on the day and knocked in 1 RBI.  Nick Parrotto went 1-4 on the day scored 2 runs, and hit in a RBI.  Owen Keister also went 1-4 with a walk and a RBI.

Keister got the win on the mound for Whiting. He went 5 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. He struck out a pair.

Evan Tice had a great day at the fish in the losing effort. He had multiple hits going 2-5 with 2 RBI.  Hayden Warmouth had a pair of RBI as well on a 1-2 day.

Jacob Hayes pitched the bulk of the work for Astro. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits.  He sent 5 hitters back to the dugout with a K.

CREEKSIDE RUNS AWAY WITH GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- It’s time for the playoffs in Class B Baseball. Creekside found themselves matched up with Avalanche in round 1. In the important Game 1 Creekside’s offense flexed their muscles to a 14-7 win.  Their 11 run 5th inning was the nail in the coffin.

Mason Petrodis had a very productive day at the plate. He went 2-4 on the day with a run scored, and 3 RBI.  Carter Owens was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with 2 runs scored, and a pair of RBI.  Tyler Mikulin also had a pair of RBI on a 1-3 day.

Petridis pitched Creekside to the win. He went 2 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits.  He struck out a pair.

Creekside and Avalanche will meet again in Game 2 tomorrow. Avalanche would have to win a double header to win the series.

AVALANCHE TAKES CONTROL OF FIRST PLACE

STRUTHERS OH- With first place on the line Sunday, Avalanche and Whiting met in a highly anticipated.Class B Baseball matchup.  Avalanche grabbed the 11-7 win and take the throne at the top of the 16U Livi Division.

Mark Cattron swung a big bat for Avalanche going 2-4 with a pair of RBI.  Santino Piccirilli also went 2-4 on the day with a pair of RBI. He also scored 2 runs.  Angelo Fromm went 1-2 with another 2 RBI.  Alex Zordich walked twice and scored a run.

Cattron got the win on the hill for Avalanche. He threw 2.2 IP and only gave up one earned run on 2 hits.  He struck out 3.

Whiting still had a good offensive showing despite the loss. Their RBI were spread out.  Nick Parrotto went 3-4 with a RBI.  Ben Miller also had multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.  Nate Thomas put together a two hit day as well. He went 2-3 with a walk, a run, and a RBI.

 

Joey Pugh took the loss on the mound, and only gave up 2 earned runs in 3 innings.  He struck out 3.

CREEKSIDE HAS ALL THE FIRE POWER


STRUTHERS OH- As we inch closer to the end of the regular season in 16U Class B action, wins are important more than ever. Fortunately for Creekside, they were able to get a dominant win over Ballistic Thursday night. Creekside walked away with a 14-2 victory over Ballistic.

Tyson Tarajack, Aaron Doughty, and Tommy Smith all led Creekside at the plate. Tarajack went 3-3 with a run scored, an RBI, and a walk. Doughty went 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Smith went 2-4 with 3 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Creekside scored 14 runs on 14 hits, and finished with 2 walks and 9 RBIs as a team.

Adam Konnerth got the win on the mound for Creekside. In his 4 IP, he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits. He struck out 8 on the day.

Michael Daley and Donovan Bell-Sullivan both led Ballistic at the plate. Daley went 1-2 on the day with a walk. Bell-Sullivan went 1-3 with 2 RBIs. Ballistic scored 2 runs on 4 hits, along with 2 RBIs and 5 walks as a team.

KNIGHTLINE HOLDS OFF PROSPECT RALLY


STRUTHERS OH- In 16U action Thursday night, Knightline fought off a late 7th inning attack by the Prospects to hold onto their 9-5 victory.

Aiden Thompson was on fire at the plate for Knightline. He finished 3-3 with a run scored, 2 RBIs, and a walk. Freddy Bolchalk also had a great performance at the plate. He went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Knightline scored 9 runs on 15 hits, and finished with 8 RBIs as a team.

Bolchalk got the win on the mound for Knightline. In his 6 IP, he did not give up any earned runs on 2 hits. He finished with 8 strikeouts on the day.

Nate Goldner and Cobe Airwyke both led the Prospects at the plate. Goldner went 1-2 with 2 RBIs. Airwyke went 1-3 on the day with a run scored and an RBI. The Prospects scored 5 runs on 4 hits, along with 3 walks and 3 RBIs as a team.
