CRESTVIEW SHINES IN BATTLE OF AREA’S TOP TEAMS

COLUMBIANA, OH- Before the game, Crestview Volleyball Coach Alisha Auer was quoted as saying “This is a fun team to coach because any player can step up on any day.”   Which is exactly what happened on Saturday during Crestview’s 3-1 victory over state-ranked Wellsville.

The Lady Rebels remain unbeaten(12-0) and are also ranked in the state standings at number 12, but Saturday was about showing how they’ve grown as a team, and the ability to prove themselves as a contender for a state title in 2019.

Crestview touts 8 seniors this year, and seemingly all were on point during Saturday’s match.  Junior, Molly Emch led the way with 16 kills, 2 blocks, and an assist while Tess Neville had 14 kills and 8 digs.  Brenna Auer had 8 kills and 12 digs from the back row while Sidney Rambo had 7 kills and a pair of blocks.  Lucy Montgomery had 30 assists on 60 attempts and sister Amelia had 14 digs and a pair of aces.  Shelby Rambo was awarded the NDC Heating and Cooling Player of the game for her efforts with 6 timely kills, and 6 blocks.

For Wellsville, Emma Smith had 13 kills, Alana Amato had 8, Gia Pucci and Meaghan Nixon had 5 kills, apiece.  Emily McNicol stepped in for her sister with 14 assists, while Greta Cartwright had 16 assists, and Aubri Ramsey had 3 aces and 26 digs as the Libero.
