SIMPLY DEVINE

COLUMBIANA, OH-  Crestview Rebels’ senior Braden Devine sat down with hosts DJ Yokley and Anthony Hartwig to discuss his memorable high school sports journey, the lessons he’s learned as a leader, and his future plans after graduation.

Devine, a key contributor to the Crestview baseball program, shared how the team’s resilience defined their season. “We’d get down early and start hanging our heads,” Devine reflected, “but myself and some of the other upperclassmen have tried to preach, ‘You’ve got to keep your head in the game.’” Thanks in part to the senior class’s leadership and a challenging schedule crafted by Coach Todd Kibby and the coaching staff, the Rebels emerged battle-tested and ready for postseason play.

While Devine admitted the end of his high school career hasn’t fully hit him—having graduated just days prior—he said the looming final games have “lit a fire” under him. Without schoolwork to juggle, he’s eager to focus fully on baseball. “It’s huge,” he said of the ability to dedicate himself to the sport during the tournament run.

Looking ahead, Devine is set to attend West Liberty University with hopes of studying aviation—a field inspired by family connections, including a grandmother who was a longtime flight attendant. While he’s been in touch with West Liberty’s baseball coach, he’s focused on his aviation ambitions: “I want to see the world. I want to travel.”

Throughout his Crestview journey, Devine credited a wide support network—from coaches to his father, who’s a fixture at games with a camera in hand. “He loves it… It’s great to have,” Devine said of his dad’s presence both on the sidelines and online, sharing moments with family and teammates.

As for what he’ll miss most? “The guys,” Devine said simply, speaking fondly of the friendships forged with his fellow seniors. One of his favorite memories is a rivalry win over Columbiana, a game he described as “pretty great.”

Devine’s journey is marked by athletic achievement, academic honors, and a grateful nod to those who supported him along the way. As he prepares for graduation and whatever comes next, Braden Devine leaves Crestview a testament to commitment, leadership, and heart—on and off the diamond.
