BIGGER AND BETTER WITH BRIAN

BOARDMAN, OH- As the twilight of high school approaches, the pressures and excitement of a senior year merge into a bittersweet symphony. Andrew Brian, the senior center of South Range football team, joins Chris Colucci on the YSN podcast to talk about his experiences and aspirations.

When asked about how fast high school has gone by, Andrew candidly expressed, “Yeah, it just feels like every year, like every year I get older, it goes by faster. Sophomore year went faster than freshman, junior went faster than sophomore. So I feel like this senior year is going to fly by in an instant. So, like, I just want to try to make the most of it before it all goes away for good.”

One of the core highlights of the interview was the upcoming week-one game against Springfield, a much-anticipated rivalry in their area. Andrew shares his thoughts: “It means so much to me. I mean, we could go really far in the playoffs, do whatever. But if we lose that game to Springfield, I feel like it just doesn’t sit right with me. Also, like, coming from there, like, going to school there before, like, just knowing all of them, like them being my childhood friends, just makes me more amped up about playing them.”

South Range’s challenging out-of-league schedule was another topic of interest. With teams like Barberton, Salem, and Lewisville on the cards, preparation is key. Andrew elaborates: “The ne eight, like, we have no weeks off. Every team does really good things in different ways. Every week, we just got to prepare for something different, just be ready for anything because we could be beat every given week if we don’t prepare as hard as we know we can.”

On the role of leadership and grooming younger talent, Andrew emphasizes, “One thing we try to do as seniors is get the young guys ready for the future. We got really good freshmen and sophomore, really big classes. That’s good for those younger kids to take steps from us and for us to guide them. Just how seniors and juniors helped us so much when I was a freshman and sophomore, to become who we are today.”

Stepping away from football for a moment, Chris asks Andrew about his favorite high school class. To which, Andrew replied, “I honestly really like biology. That’s something I want to do in my future. Be in the medical field, going to major in biology, pre-med or something like that. I just find that kind of stuff really interesting, to be honest.”

Adding a personal touch, the discussion shifts to road trips and snack preferences. Andrew shares, “For a drink, I’ll probably get some kind of protein shake. And for snacks, the Frito honey twists and anything Reese. I like those too.”
Finally, for a sweet query about his favorite ice cream on a date night, Andrew delightfully responded, “They got this one. It’s called banana cream pie. I think it’s the best thing ever. It’s got these banana cake chunks in it. I get it every time.”

Chris Colucci wrapped up the interview with encouraging words, highlighting how quickly senior year will flash by and urging Andrew to savor every moment: “Dude, it’s your senior year. Go show out what you got to do your final year. Final time playing Springfield. Final time going to play on that high school football field. It’s going to go by quick. Enjoy every moment of it.”

As Andrew gears up for an eventful senior year, his reflections and words serve as a reminder to cherish the moments and keep aiming high. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors, both on and off the field.
