GIRARD CANT OVERCOME CANAL FULTON

CANAL FULTON OH- Girard had the offense clicking last week for the first time in a while, and they carried their offensive success to Saturday in round 2 of the OHSAA playoffs. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to keep Canal Fulton’s offense at Bay as the Indians fell 52-29.

Preston Mays got Girard on the board quick with an 85-yard kick off return. Andrew DelGarbino did not go down without a fight. He totaled 270 yards through the air with a touchdown, and also gained 56 yards with his legs.

Girard falls to 3-5 on the season and is eliminated from tournament play. The Indians are still able to schedule regular-season games up until week 10. Stay tuned for all the schedule updates.

DRAGONS SMOKE GIRARD

GIRARD OH- Niles took the field on Friday on a two game winning streak and a chance with a win to end the season above .500. They did not miss their chance, as the Dragons scored in each quarter and came away with a 28-14 victory. The Dragons scored to tie up the score 14-14 with time expiring in the first half. They never looked back from that momentum.

Zack Leonard was the definition of a dual threat as he passed for 132 yards, and also ran for 90.

Andrew DelGarbino did all he could for the Indians as he threw for 161 yards. Dom Malito had six receptions for 63 yards.

Both teams look ahead to host a playoff game. Niles who improves to 4-2 will host Ravenna, and Girard who drops to 2-4 will host Woodridge.

POLAND PROTECTS THEIR HOME FIELD

POLAND OH-The Poland Bulldogs, coming off a victory last week, were looking to continue their success going into week 3 against The Girard Indians. Wide Receiver Andrew Centofanti of Poland will assist in a big way for the Bulldogs. Scoring two receiving touchdowns in the game while Quarterback Jack Fulton had 3 touchdowns(2 passing, 1 rushing). The Bulldogs beat the Indians 33-14.

Poland got on the board in the first quarter with a pair of rushing touchdowns by Running Back Peyton Mrakovich and Fulton to make the game 14-0 going into the second quarter. The Bulldogs increased their lead with a 2 yard touchdown run by Running Back Bryce Barringer at the beginning of the second quarter followed by a hard fought touchdown pass to Centofanti from Fulton from 32 yards to make the game 26-0. Girard would answer on the final second of the half with a 31 yard hail mary pass to Wide Receiver Dominic Malito by Quarterback Andrew DelGarbino to make the game 26-7 going into halftime.
Centofanti and Fulton would add an additional passing touchdown on the night in the third quarter. Fulton found Centofanti from 18 yard out to make the game 33-7 in favor of the Bulldogs. Girard would score one more time in the fourth quarter with a 3 yard touchdown run by Delgarbino but it would not be enough to keep pace with the Bulldogs. Poland wins 33-14 on Homecoming night.
