FALCONS SWEEP THEIR WAY TO GLORY

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons finishes off the 16U Championship series with a 10-0 win over Knightline to sweep the series. The Astros only scored in two innings, unfortunately for Knightline, one inning was an eight run one.

Stephen Tarnoci went 1-1 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Cole Constable went 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Aiden Miller went 1-1 with a RBI. Seth Cervello went 1-2 with a RBI.

Knightline only managed 1 hit and it came from Teagan McCurdy who went 1-2. Dru DeShields and Mikey Sciortino both walked once.

Anthony Miller brought home the championship victory for the Falcons. He went 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and striking out 7.

 

FALCONS SEND STATEMENT IN GAME 1 WIN

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons sent a strong message on Tuesday in their game 1 win over Knightline 11-1. The Falcons blew it wide open in the 5th when they scored six runs.

Five different Falcons had 1 RBI on the night. Dom Fornatado was the only one with multiple hits. He went 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Tino Campoli went 1-2 with 3 runs scored, a walk, and a RBI. Anthony Miller was never retired tonight going 1-1 with 2 runs scored, and 2 walks.

Knightline struggles offensively. Guy Young collected the team’s only RBI going 1-2. Anthony Butto went 2-2. Gavin Mauger collected a hit for Knightline going 1-2.

Ryan Petro was awarded the victory on the bump for the Falcons. He went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He struck out 5.

 

ASTROS FEELIN FRESH AFTER SWEEP OF EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- Astro Falcons completed a semifinal sweep of Eagle Wear with a commanding 11-0 victory on Sunday. The Falcons move on to the 16U championship series against Knightline.

Tyler Staub was a key factor to the Falcons success. He went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI. AJ Havrilla went 1-2 with a run scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI. Anthony Miller went 2-5 with a run scored.

Christopher Altiere did all he could offensively going 2-3 on the day. Cal Rinck went 1-2 with a walk.

Dom Fornatado got the win toeing the rubber for the Falcons. He went 5 innings giving up 0 runs on 2 hits. He struck out 3.

ASTROS DISPATCH EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons looked very strong in the first postseason game as they made quick work of Eagle Wear 11-1. It was a 1-1 game after 2 innings but 10 runs by the Falcons in the span of three innings put the game out of reach.

Ryan Petro was on fire for the Falcons as he went 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Anthony Miller went 1-2 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Luca Ricchiuti went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.

It was a tough offense day for Eagle Wear, they only managed 1 hit. That hit came from DaShawn Putnam, he went 1-2 with a RBI. Ian Barton walked and scored the team’s only run.

Miller got the win for the Falcons. He went 4 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 7.

PONY: FIESTA DE YOUNGSTOWN

WASHINGTON, PA- In the blue-collar city of Youngstown, Ohio; there’s time for work, and there is time to celebrate.  On a Friday night, prime time matchup against Mexico, Scott Ruark’s Team Youngstown embodied the city to the letter.  Guasave, Mexico had trouble keeping up with Youngstown in a 6-0 loss on Friday.

A single by Ezequiel Perez in the fourth inning was positive for Guasave, Mexico.  But that’s about where things ended for our friends south of the border.

Class B standout prospect Anthony Miller led Youngstown to victory on the mound. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out ten. Stephen Tarnoci threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Tarnoci recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Youngstown..

Perez took the loss for Guasave, Mexico. He allowed six hits and five runs over six and a third innings, striking out 13.

Jose Alvarez and Perez each collected one hit to lead Guasave, Mexico.

Youngstown racked up eight hits. Ben Slanker and Miller each racked up multiple hits for “The Yo.”  Ben Slanker also took the crown home in the Home Run Derby prior to the game.

Youngstown returns to action Monday evening at 5:30 to face the winner of China and Puerto Rico.
