FALCONS CLINCH CLASS B CHAMPIONSHIP

STRUTHERS OH- After the Class B Championship Series had to hit a pause button to make room for the NABF World Series, the Astro Falcons and Creekside Fitness met back up to complete the series. With a 2-1 series lead coming in, the Astro Falcons clinched the Class B title with an 8-3 win.

Tyler Armstrong came up clutch for the Falcons on the night going 2-4 with 2 RBI.  David Kessler also knocked in 2 RBI on a 1-3 day. Ben Slanker mirrored those numbers driving in 2 going 1-3. He also scored a run.  Zeke Hendricks managed multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

Joe Roth went the distance in a championship level effort on the mound. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits, and ended with 6 strike outs and no walks.

Payton Zupko had a good day at the plate for Creekside despite the loss. He went 1-2 with a RBI.  Tyler Kamerer went 1-3 with a RBI.  Henry Shaffer also went 1-3 with a RBI from the top of the order.

Braeden D’Angelo took the loss on the mound for Creekside.  He went 3 innings and gave up 5 runs on only 3 hits.  He struck out 1.  Creekside struck out 6 as a team.

FALCONS TAKE JUNIOR WORLD SERIES CROWN

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons 16U team battled through championship Sunday and earned themselves a NABF title. They out hit FTB Mid-Atlantic in a 11-6 win.

Jake Schneider was the big bat in the lineup for the Astro Falcons. He went 3-4 with 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.  Drew Kaschak managed another big day at the plate going 2-3 with a run scored, 2 walks drawn, and a RBI.  Kolten Ruark drove in a pair of runs going 2-4 with 2 runs scored.  Ryan DiLullo also managed multiple hits on a 2-5 day scoring 2 runs.

Brendan Ray got the win on the mound for the Falcons. He pitched 5 innings and gave up 6 runs on 12 hits.  He struck out 1.

ASTRO FALCONS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons 18U club continued to run through pool play at the NABF World Series.  They secured a 5-0 victory over Diamond Hit Club on Sunday.

Andrew Marcello was a difference maker at the plate. He went 3-4 on the day with a pair of runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Anthony Miller collected multiple hits at the top of the order going 2-4 with a RBI, and a run scored.  Joe Roth was never retired on the day going 2-2 with a walk, and a run scored. Ben Slanker managed to grab a walk, and a RBI.

Tyler Armstrong slung the ball well and claimed a victory for the Falcons. He pitched 6 innings and only gave up 2 hits. No runs were scored.  He struck out 8 while walking none.

FALCONS FIGHT FOR SECOND WIN OF THE DAY

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons took the momentum from their 11-1 win earlier in the day to fight for a 5-1 win over Impact Baseball. That gives the Falcons back to back wins on the final day of pool play.

Carter Wilson drove in a pair of runs on a 2-3 day at the plate.  Hayden Warmouth also collected a RBI on a 1-2 day.  He also walked, and scored a run. Evan Tice went 1-2 with a RBI.  Ryan DiLullo managed multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 runs scored.

Cameron Foy gave the Astro Falcons a complete game effort in the win. In his 7 innings pitched, he gave up 0 earned runs on 5 hits.  He struck out 7.

 

ASTROS CLIP ORIOLES WINGS

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons 16U squad kicked off the final day of pool play with a big 11-1 win over the Brunswick Orioles.

The RBI’s were plenty for the Astros offense. Drew Kaschak went 2-4 on the day with a RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Dylan Casey also went 2-4 with a RBI. He crossed the plate once.  Carter Wilson collected a RBI on a 1-3 day with a run scored.  Marc Pieto walked once and collected a RBI.  Ryan DiLullo went 1-2 with a run scored, and a walk.

Jacob Hayes pitched the Falcons to victory. He went the complete game with 5 innings pitched.  He gave up 0 earned runs on 2 hits. He struck out 8 while only walking 2.

FALCONS HAVE NO TROUBLES

STRUTHERS OH- There we’re no issues for the Astro Falcons on Friday night as they smashed North Coast Select 13-2.

Ben Slanker proved too much for the North Coast pitching staff. He was never retired going 2-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  David Kessler went 2-3 with a run scored, a walk, and a pair of RBI.  Tyler Armstrong also collected a pair of RBI.  Joe Roth anchored the lineup by going 2-4 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Gavin Miller also got himself a RBI going 1-2. He also scored 3 runs and walked twice.

Zach Herb got the win on the mound for the Astro Falcons. He went all 5 innings of the shortened game, and gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits.  He struck out 9 while only walking 2.

FIELDER’S CHOICE WINS 14U NABF WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

STRUTHERS, OH- Fielder’s Choice 14U battled the Astro Falcons on Sunday for the 14U NABF World Series Championship. Both teams entered the final game undefeated, but the bats stayed hot for FC to win the ballgame and take home the trophy.

The Falcons got off to a good start in the top of the first inning, with an RBI single by Anthony Groner. Fielder’s Choice would strike right back with a run scored on an error. Fielder’s Choice then had the bases loaded in the second inning, and they we’re cleared by a bases clearing triple by Shawn Sullivan. FC added 3 more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, to extend their lead to 8-1. Fielder’s Choice had another run come across in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Johnny Neal. The Falcons scored 1 run in the seventh inning, but it was not enough to mount a large comeback, falling by a final of 9-2.

The winning pitcher was Mathew Mansberry. He tossed 5 complete innings, giving up just 1 run on 5 hits. Congratulations to Fielder’s Choice on an undefeated NABF World Series weekend.

RESETAR THROWS COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT IN GAME 1 OF POOL PLAY

STRUTHERS, OH- The Astro Falcons got a first round victory over the Pittsburgh Spikes with a complete game shut-out performance by Collin Resetar.

Tonight’s matchup was a pitching dual through and through with Pittsburgh Spikes pitcher Jules Prozzoly throwing 5 innings of 3 hit baseball, and allowing just 1 run in the second inning. That run came across on a 2 out walk by Drew Snyder, followed by an RBI triple by Gavin Kessler. The DH’s triple proved to be the game deciding run in a 1-0 Astro Falcons victory.

Collin Resetar was lights out tonight, picking up the victory. Resetar threw 7 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 8 batters. Resetar threw 100 pitches on the dot in the thrilling victory. The Falcons return to the field tomorrow in a double-header against the Brunswick Orioles, and the Canes. Both games will be played on Cene #1, and first pitches are slated for 12:30 and 5:30 P.M. You can watch both on YSNLive.com.

FALCONS SCRAPE PAST CREEKSIDE IN GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- The rivalry between Creekside, and Astro Falcons is alive and well. The two teams meet yet again in an 18U championship series for Class B Baseball. The regular season matchups were Astro Falcons dominated affairs, but Creekside came ready to battle Sunday night. In a pitcher’s duel the Falcons still won 2-1.

The Falcons did the most they could with their pair of hits on the night. Jack Whalen went 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.  David Kessler walked and got credited with a RBI as well.  The other hit for Astro came from Clay Wiesen who 1-3 with a run scored.

 

The Astros pitching was dominant as ever as Jordan Kolenda went 7 innings only giving up 1 run on 6 hits. He struck out 10 while walking none.

Braden Zeigler collected the only RBI of the day for Creekside going 1-3. Danny Flynn had multiple hits going 2-3. Tyler Kamerer went 1-3 as well with a run scored.

Mark Bunch was the tough luck loser for Creekside. He held the Falcons offense to just 2 hits and gave up 2 runs.  He struck out 4.

FALCONS FLEX MUSCLES IN SEMIS


STRUTHERS OH- In the Class B Baseball semifinals series in 18U, the Astro Falcons put on an all-around show in game one against Dura Edge. The Falcons go up 1-0 in the best of three series, winning game one 12-2.

Devan Zirwas was a huge piece of the victory for the Falcons. He went 4-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs, along with 3 steals on the day. Clay Wiesen also came up big at the plate, going 3-4 on the day with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Aaron Posey also had a day at the plate, going 3-3 with a run scored and a RBI. As a team, the Falcons put up 12 runs on 17 hits, and 9 RBIs.

Nathan Klodowski went the distance and got the win on the mound for the Falcons. In his 6 IP, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits. He put up 8 strikeouts on the day.

Andrew Marcello led the way for Dura Edge, going 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, a RBI, and a steal. Camden Sergi put up a 1-3 effort with a RBI. Dura Edge finished with 2 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 2 RBIs as a team.

Sergi took the loss for Dura Edge. He went 4 IP, giving up 7 earned runs on 13 hits and struck out 3.
