BOARDMAN OH- There’s no bigger advantage in volleyball than having a senior setter running the show, and Boardman’s got exactly that in Ava Commons. As a senior, she knows the rhythm of the team inside and out, setting the pace and making sure the offense clicks. With Commons at the helm, the Spartans have a floor general who understands every player’s timing and how to put them in the best position to score.

But Commons isn’t just the leader of the offense—she’s the heartbeat of the entire team. Her ability to motivate and elevate her teammates is unmatched. Whether it’s in practice or during the intensity of a match, Commons is the one keeping the Spartans fired up and confident. Without Ava’s leadership, Boardman wouldn’t have the same spark or belief in themselves.

Off the court, Ava brings the same energy to her academics. She’s holding down a 4.0 GPA, and it’s something she takes a lot of pride in. No one outworks Commons, whether she’s hitting the books or dishing out assists.

As for what’s next, Commons has her sights set on playing volleyball at the college level. The recruitment process is still ongoing, but one thing’s for sure: whatever program lands Ava Commons is getting a high-IQ player who will outwork anyone on the floor and lead with grit and determination.
