THE AVALANCHE CRASHES INTO THE PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Avalanche had a lot of fun on Tuesday as they rolled past the Prospects in 16u Class B action 12-1.

There was a lot of offense on the Avalanche’s side as Grayson Eicher grabbed a pair of RBI on a perfect 1-1 day with 2 walks.  Nick Solderich went 2-3 on the night and gathered 2 RBI as well.  Blake Rottmon didn’t grab a hit, but he did lead the team with 3 RBI.

Landon Whippo picked up the win for Avalanche on the bump. He lasted 4.1 IP giving up just 1 earned run on 4 hits.  He struck out a pair of hitters.

BALLISTIC BLANKS THE AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- Ballistic Baseball got the new week in Class B Baseball started on the right foot as their pitching shutout Avalanche 4-0 to grab a win.

Tyler Wright was the most productive bat in the order going 2-3 with 2 RBI. Josh Wolf and TJ Border both went 2-4 on the night with a RBI each. Donavan Sullivan went 1-3 on the night with a walk and a run scored.

Gabe Rusnak was dynamite on the mound for Ballistic. He went the complete 7 innings and gave up 0 runs on 6 hits, and he struck out 6.

Hayden Scarmack was the only hitter for Avalanche to finish with multiple hits. He went 2-3 at the plate.

Tyson Djakovich gave up 3 earned runs on the night while striking out 6 in 6.2 innings pitched.

AVALANCHE DODGE THE LONGHORNS

STRUTHERS OH- In 18U action of the NABF World Series, the Avalanche were able to walk away with a victory in a very interesting, tight matchup against the Longhorns-DeMarino. A two-run fourth inning for the Avalanche was one of the key moments that pushed them to a 4-3 victory on Saturday. 

Keith Smith led the Avalanche at the plate with a 2-3 day as he scored a run. Jullian Trott went 1-4 on the day, he was the lone RBI for the Avalanche. Logan Ayres went 1-2 and drew a walk. 

Noah Czajowski got the win on the mound for the Avalanche. In his 3 IP, he gave up 2 earned runs on 1 hit. He finished with 6 strikeouts on the day.

AVALANCHE OVERWHELM ONTARIO ASTROS

STRUTHERS OH- In 18U action of the NABF World Series Saturday, the Avalanche and the Ontario Astros squared off. From the start, the Avalanche bats were rolling. A 15-hit game as a club helped propel them to a 13-0 shutout win.

For the Avalanche, Nolan Reichard was fantastic at the plate. He went a perfect 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Jaret Boyer and Kenny Lavrich both went 3-4 on the day. Boyer scored 3 runs and put up an RBI. Lavrich scored a run and added 2 RBIs. Joey Fazzone had a 4 RBI day, going 2-4. 

Tyson Djakovich went the full distance and nearly finished the shutout with a no-hitter. In his 5 IP, he gave up just 1 hit and struck out 5.

AVALANCHE POUND THE BUCKEYES

STRUTHERS OH- After their 16U squad won earlier in the day on a dramatic walk off, Avalanche’s 18U team made it much less interesting. They stormed their way to a 11-0 victory over the BHM Buckeyes.

Jake Kail was a force for the Avalanche bats. He went 1-3 on the day with a run scored, and 2 RBI.  Julian Trott was never retired at the plate as he went 3-3 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Logan Ayres was perfect at the plate going 2-2 with 2 runs scored, a walk, and a RBI.  Noah Reichard knocked in 2 RBI on a 1-3 day.  Kenny Lavrich had multiple hits going 2-3 with a run scored, and a RBI.

Jaret Boyer collected the win on the mound for the Avalanche. He threw 3 innings and gave up no runs on 1 hit and struck out 6. The Avalanche pitching staff struck out 9 while walking none.

AVALANCHE WALKS IT OFF IN OPENING ROUND OF NABF WORLD SERIES

STRUTHERS, OH- The Avalanche and the Brooklyn Bonnie Bee’s did battle to open up the 2022 16U NABF World Series at Bob Cene Park. It was a pitching dual throughout the ballgame, and a low scoring affair decided game number one.

Bonnie Bee’s pitcher Frank Creo got the tough luck loss tossing 7 innings and giving up just 1 earned run. Avalanche starter Jack Strausser got a no decision in a gem of an outing, tossing 6 innings, while striking out 9 batters. Avalanche reliever David Moyer got the win tossing 2 innings, allowing just 1 run.

The game was tied in the eight inning, and in the extra frame Moyer got a key out with a runner at third to set up a walk off scenario in the bottom of the eight. The Avalanche played some small ball in the extra inning, with 2 bunt singles by Andrew Gault and Mark Cattron to win the ballgame in the eight. The Avalanche won the first game to kick off the tournament by a final of 3-2.

OHIO LONGHORNS OUT-SLUG AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS, OH- The Ohio Longhorns and the Avalanche battled on Cene #1 in the first game of NABF World Series Pool Play. The Longhorns came out swinging, and kept the lead the entire way to win game 1.

The Longhorns scored 3 runs in the first inning to jump out in front. Damien Presser hit an RBI double to score the third run of the inning. The Avalanche came right back to plate 2 runs in the first, on an RBI single by Hunter Jones. The Ohio Longhorns got 2 more runs in the second inning with another RBI double, but this time by Carter Duley. Once again Avalanche countered to score 2 more runs on an RBI knock by Layne Rider.

It was a 6-5 Longhorn lead after the fourth inning, and both bullpens would compete to win the game. The Ohio Longhorns reliever Bradee Blankenship tossed 3 scoreless innings, to seal the deal for the Longhorns. Although the team lost, Avalanche reliever Layne Rider tossed 4 innings of relief, giving up just 1 run and striking out 4 batters.

The Ohio Longhorns out hit the Avalanche 10-9, picking up the slim 1 run victory of 6-5. Both teams return to action tomorrow at Bob Cene Park. Catch all 4 games on YSNLive.com

DURA EDGE KNOCKS OUT AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- It was all of the momentum that was on the side of Dura Edge in Thursday’s playoff matchup. Avalanche sat and waited for their opponent during the play in rounds, and Dura Edge won their way to this point. That ended up being key as Dura Edge got the big win upsetting the third seeded Avalanche 4-0.

Jack Kail was just one double away from the cycle as he went 3-3 with 2 RBI. Matt Luchovik went 1-3 on the day with a RBI.  Tommy Schubert went 1-3 at the plate with a run scored.  Parker Lyons also collected a RBI for Dura Edge.

Braden Gebhardt was masterful on the mound. He pitched 6 innings of shutout baseball, and only gave up 1 hit.  He struck out an eye popping 12 batters and only walked 2.

 

CREEKSIDE RUNS AWAY WITH GAME 1

STRUTHERS OH- It’s time for the playoffs in Class B Baseball. Creekside found themselves matched up with Avalanche in round 1. In the important Game 1 Creekside’s offense flexed their muscles to a 14-7 win.  Their 11 run 5th inning was the nail in the coffin.

Mason Petrodis had a very productive day at the plate. He went 2-4 on the day with a run scored, and 3 RBI.  Carter Owens was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with 2 runs scored, and a pair of RBI.  Tyler Mikulin also had a pair of RBI on a 1-3 day.

Petridis pitched Creekside to the win. He went 2 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits.  He struck out a pair.

Creekside and Avalanche will meet again in Game 2 tomorrow. Avalanche would have to win a double header to win the series.

AVALANCHE TAKES CONTROL OF FIRST PLACE

STRUTHERS OH- With first place on the line Sunday, Avalanche and Whiting met in a highly anticipated.Class B Baseball matchup.  Avalanche grabbed the 11-7 win and take the throne at the top of the 16U Livi Division.

Mark Cattron swung a big bat for Avalanche going 2-4 with a pair of RBI.  Santino Piccirilli also went 2-4 on the day with a pair of RBI. He also scored 2 runs.  Angelo Fromm went 1-2 with another 2 RBI.  Alex Zordich walked twice and scored a run.

Cattron got the win on the hill for Avalanche. He threw 2.2 IP and only gave up one earned run on 2 hits.  He struck out 3.

Whiting still had a good offensive showing despite the loss. Their RBI were spread out.  Nick Parrotto went 3-4 with a RBI.  Ben Miller also had multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored.  Nate Thomas put together a two hit day as well. He went 2-3 with a walk, a run, and a RBI.

 

Joey Pugh took the loss on the mound, and only gave up 2 earned runs in 3 innings.  He struck out 3.
